Just bought a mk1 project...a bit of body work to be done and owner had done some work on the engine (not sure what as I've not picked up car yet and seller didn't know as it was his mates car - mate is no longer with us). I know there's an electric fuel pump and electronic ignition and I'm sort of hoping he's put in a 1600 (and when he put on the bigger air cleaner he had to cut the bonnet cross brace weird but anyway). Question is: 
 
What are your top 5 modifications to a mk 1 for decent street car?

Probably mk2 2lt struts and brakes with some decent springs and strut tops.

Mk2 struts which must have -2in springs (and rack) , mk2 diff, better steering wheel and seats, anti tramp bars and Mexico/twincam front arches for when you get some nice rims ..a few more than 5 items but we all get carried away modifying them 👍
