Long time not been on here, but here is my dilemma... I have a MK1 2door in my back shed 95% complete, with many spares.
Now I have to decide to resto back to original or go for a "mock" up look alike with flared guards etc.
I have a mate who is old school with panel beating and has offered to do the panel and paint and we split it if we sell?? or still do resto and I keep it??
What would it be worth fully restored??  or sold on now as project or do the flared guards etc... just looking for ballpark figures to hopefully help with some sort of decision

How is the body condition and what are you wanting from the Escort?
If you are mainly interested in making some coin from it now and the shell is pretty good, tidy it up to get it roadworthy and move it on. Sorting standard mechanical components if you can do it yourself is fairly cheep.
A resto. and or modifications will cost you, things like rubbers, seals, interior trim etc. all add up let alone the time to do the job. Then if you put flared arches you will want an engine to match $$.
If you are keeping it then build the car of your dreams and enjoy it.
Or just leave it in the shed for another day!

The body is in pretty good nick, only rust hole is in passenger floor and the size of 2 50c pieces, paint is ratty.
and that is just it, i havent made my mind up yet, but the offer from the mate is purely to make some coin.\I have seen 4 doors go for $3000 to $6000, and we all know 2 dr ones are getting extremely hard to get, I just need to know rough figures of what it would be worth resurected back to pristine

$20-$25k for a non GT or Twink is being reached these days.... Up to you what motor or body mods like seam weld or arches, 5sp box or 6sp these days, LSD diff , decent brake setup etc will get the coins your looking for but weigh up what works for best return .
My Mexico replica with zetec is valued at $27k but nothing is escort in it 😎

Thanks MartyMexico... so $20 -$25k back to original aint tooo bad, gonna take 10K at least to bring back like new again, not a bad win tho for a 2 door.
