Sump is changed and now have approx 20mm clearance and no low down or 80km vibration.

Changed the steering bush also as it was a ford OEM one that looked a little twisted and dusted.

Gave the car a good detail which continued to the interior, i then got a little carried away, silastic im sure was a great idea by the previous owner but yeah doesnt like being removed. I have a pretty neat replacement so no loss really.

I also replaced my hazard switch and noticed the other i had has a globe, might try and find a another globe and pop that in. I love little things like that when they work. An ideas what watts i should aim for? maybe a trip to jaycar

Also my tail lights have developed an odd problem. Without lights on both brake lights work no probs.

Turn parkers on, Left side rear lamps turn on, Right side nothing, apply brakes and only Right side brake light works.

Turn on main beams and the above happens.

Could this be an earthing issue, ive changed globes and all checks fine. I assume the lights earth through the mounting bolts, perhaps i need to remove a bit more paint around that area?

Cheers

Most definitely a earthing problem, clean usual contacts, even the fuse block, sit a brick on the brake pedal and wiggle the wires about as you go. As for the tiny bulb in the switch I think it's the same as the park brake/brake fail ones or smoke lighter, demister switch bulb .
A guy at work uses that snow foam stuff on his SS reckons it's great... I'm still stuck in the 80s and bucket n sponge after it's hosed down lol !

Thanks marty!

Yes the snowfoam is great, i hardly handwash the car now, hose it down, foam it, let sit, hose off and use a drying towel and done!

So the earths are the mounting points for the lights? maybe not enough contact there. Actually heading up the country this week to pick up the wheels from the painters so might stop past a friends workshop and speak to his auto elec.

Lights are fixed, friend who owns a workshop was nice enough to let his auto elec have a quick look and within 30mins was all fixed, bad earth, mixed wires, average clips and fuses cleaned up and all back to normal.

Simmons are back from the painters, have gone a little off centre with the colour. In the light they are a golden glow, in the shade they darken up and in the evening light turn caramel. A very 70s vibe i felt. Lets see if it works once they are all bolted together and on the car. Im anxious on the result after taking a punt.

Also i have a switch to operate the spot lights on the front in the place of the standard choke, decided to neaten it up a bit so brought this little guy. Pity they dont do square ones or they would be a awesome replacement for the old style switches.

Many thanks Paul for answering my million questions about sizing, fitment etc. Anxious about the colour but if its not right i can just dismantle and repaint.  Close now although i may wait for the after xmas sales before i buy some tyres. Leaning towards rs4 or pilotsport 3s.

No worries. I love the gold but didn’t quite fit with my scheme and took me a while to decide to go with charcoal. Must admit the gold shows the wheel detail better.

Its not the normal simmons gold, its based off the ford acid rush colour so a bit darker but in the sunshine really comes alive so only time will tell.

I did think of black, i think adding too many colours into a scheme just confuses the eye
