I would offer to lathe the centres out but my lathe isn't big enough ! We've got a huge one at work but that's kinda broken 😞.

Not much has been happening, i brought repo indicator and washer stalks to freshen up the interior a bit. Also my washers would go off with the slightest touch which drove me nuts and now my indicators turn off like they should once cornering is complete.

Hopefully getting the Simmons into a machine shop this week to be able to mount them flush. Spoke to a mate who is running the same set and he has used 5 inch inners 3 inch outers and is happy with fitment so will see how i go but also allows me to use my current inners and just purchase new outers. Guess ill have to save up for the raping simmons may be about to give me.

One problem i can foresee, with the grp4 extended studs on my new front suspension it wont work with the older shank style wheel nut so they will need to be trimmed down so i can swap wheels when desired.

Attended another coffee and cars with some mates, Same evo X as last time and another mate dusted off his evo wagon.

Unfortunately not much has been happening on the car front, chasing oil leaks.

I mentioned earlier about losing a large volume of gearbox oil from the back of the extension housing, replaced the seal but that didnt fix the issue so had the mechanic pull the box out and inspect. It seems the extension housing had lost or never had its small lip about an inch or two into the housing. When you run your finger around you would feel the lip ovalize. We changed the housing, put in new bush and seal, yoke and uni and it seems to have done the job.

Unfortunately while doing this we noticed i have a cortina sump on the car which is now rattling on my crossmember on start up etc, there are some spacer in there but it doesnt seem to be doing the job so i think we will need to change that in not too distant future.

Fixing the small issue is priority then i can move onto fitting all the suspension gear.

Photos from the detailer as i have nothing much else.

Slowly plugging away.

Simmons are slowly coming together, i may have to downsize the fronts to 6.5 due to strut clearance on the bilstein coilovers.

Ive sent the car in for the suspension work, its holding good company.

Sump will be next. One job at a time.

Car is back, fitted the Front grp4 suspension, anti dive, 22mm front sway bar, all new bushes, rear king low leafs and bilstein shocks. After some discussion i went with 225lb front springs, i was pretty anxious as i wasnt sure if they would be too stiff and make the car some what non road friendly. The front end feels alot nicer and not overly stiff at all. Atm its great but i also feel like a bump up in spring rate if the cars focus moves more towards the track. The rear feels great, firmer when pushing but very compliant on the typical road bumps etc.

One issue we ran into was grp4 struts did not include the brake line clip so we upgraded to some braided lines to keep it all nice neat. Very happy with the car now, its so much more enjoyable to drive.

Went for some coffee on a sunday as usual, made a friend.

Few more shots, if fitting a vented rotor does that space out the hub?

Slowly moving forward on the simmons, unfortunately due to the spring perch being lower on the gpr4 struts ive had to down size the width of the fronts to 6.5 to fit them. The picture included is with a 10mm spacer to see how much a .5 inch downsize gives me clearance  wise.

Looking good as always.
Not sure what size rubber you'll be using but take into account any tyre bulge. Mine fouled the lock rings by a whisker and I had to use 10mm spacers to rectify it.

Thanks, the photo doesnt show it very well but due to the change to 15 inch with a tyre mounted it moves away from the spring, i could possibly make it clear if i removed the helper spring (its not doing anything anyway) but its just too close and as the wheels are apart its easier to downsize the inner.

Are yours 6.5s or 7s?

Lol mine are original 13 x 5.5 Volante alloys. Makes more sense now that mine would rub the tyre and yours  the 15" rim. May have the effect narrowing on tyre bulge if its a wide rim with a tyre stretching over it.
Cheers Drew.

No, it won't, as the bearings in the hub still run on the spindle in the same position. The vented disks may foul the rubber boot on the tie rod ends though.
