Awesome work Marty, thanks for the posts, it's great to see these things getting built.
You're definitely an inspiration for me to pull my finger out.
Cheers Drew

Thanks Drew and Matt, I like restoring vans cause there's only half the interior to find ! And could be as rare as coups in numbers . Who knows...

I reckon it was time to get the car ready for its yellow coat, weather came good so I started taping all the gaps up.
Handy tip, I made a copy of the front windscreen in fibreglass with clips/tabs screwed at the edges to lock in to the window seam

After some 6hrs of painting , with a 7am start and numerous breaks in between, the result..

Thank you Rhys and Ted 😎, warmer weather gets the motivation pumping again.
This roof vent was the first item to be bolted back on, I used stainless steel button head bolts and nyloc nuts as the original welded studs were rotten . Also gave it a squirt of drip chek sealer to keep water from getting in..

Just another painted body pic....

The people who been quietly following this, and early on I had a feeling the diff could be a dodge , well this is what I found lol... Finding explosions in centres is kinda funny

Not only that, a few crown bolts decided to escape and the remaining ones were nearly out..

Spares !!!

Struts, after pulling them to bits and checking if bent... One was slightly less camber than the other so I put one in the press to 'straighten' it a little bit. Once that was done and they matched I welded gussets at the base to eliminate bending. After that I carefully grindered the spring platform off, next was to lower the platform about 40mm and re weld it back up , same for the other side. Doing this lowers the front by the amount the platform gets lowered .

Went looking for the rear shocks and found they was plastered in sludge and grime, but once cleaned up they checked out fine and went back in, must've been a good 15yrs since I seen the old Monroe GT gas golds !!

A bit more painting of some pieces...

Starting to install as much as I can to the underside before it's lifted off the rotisserie, first major part was the tank and fuel lines

Diff housing painted in mk2 focus metallic black with a few coats of clear, this color was used on all the underside bolt ons

Had a strip of stainless steel so I folded it to cover the wires leading to the taillights

Installed a low pressure electric fuel pump
