16k is not the true value of that car, it's almost certainly inflated by shill bids, and should be ignored as a reference for value.

I know but with so many different bids and 4cyl fetching 25k you have to wonder. Do all of us undervalue what we have? And do we just consider it's bought value not it's true value.

But seriously if you had a million in the bank what would that car be worth. Silly idiots aside can we all suggest in today's terms what it might be worth. I'd go 8k sight unseen max. 6k would be a bargain ,all only by the amount of extras.

Can't beat word of mouth. Still the best form of advertising...

Looking at the idiots that seem to be attracted to almost anything that's advertised on the internet these days, I'm starting to agree with you. Genuine buyers aren't always connected to the grapevine though, which can make it hard for them.

I can understand that someone would pay $16k.  If he is good at panel and paint, and with most rust work done, paint materials wont cost much.  So another $14k for DIY paint, trim and mech tidy up and they have a fair value matching numbers car done how they want, and loads of spares to keep or sell off.  Compared to the red one which is now at $25k, looks to have old acrylic paint with rust in places, chrome bumpers are pitted, speedo needs work, needs a trim tidy up, has been sitting for over 20 years so will need brake work, fuel line work, carby overhaul etc and by the look of the stain around the rad cap has engine issues, it will probably end up costing more to get to restored cond.

working in the auction houses for almost 25+ yrs

there are two types of seller's

1 the person who prices there car to sell and those go a bit more than what they want and get sold

2 the ones who ask silly prices for there cars them cars never sell and the owner drives it home at the end of the day with no sale and still has it 3 months later ,,

they bring the car back months later after trying to flog it for a silly price at other places with no luck ..

out of lets say 20 genuine buyers only and maybe 3 -5 might pay way more than the value
and few of the 3-5 are either drug dealers or someone that really wants that type car..

the rest of the genuine buyers the 15 wont and cant afford to go after a certain limit and buy something else
