Agree on both counts. The price estimate did surprise me.

This was 80's car customization in its finest.  A Mk1 capri with a MK3 front, KB Laser rear, Gemini Interior, Leyland P76 engine, Holden trans.  Just needs a GTHO rear wing.  Note the removal of the side swage line, never seen that done before.

Wholly poo, what a poor choice, must be the most butt ugly passenger side dash area, those vents are from a Russian delivery van surely.
The rest of the car I could almost live with bodywise, but yeah I think if you listed quietly you can hear the pain it's in, like the whalesong noise when it's dying.

I remember one featured in a street machine article that had a Gemini dash, probably what inspired him to do it.

Good to see some people putting top dollar on Capri's. They have Been under the radar, compared to the rest of the Average Aussie Classics, Kingswoods, Toranas, Mock up GT Falcons etc with stupid prices and fools who pay it.
 
Whether or not they sell is another thing.

The Chastain used to belong to a friend of mine in Perth, looks like it had a bit of work done since he owned it. He actually talked to Allan Moffat about it when Moffat was in Perth one time and my recollection was that Moffat wasn't very complimentary about the car. He also had a yellow RS3100 that he bought from Lawrie Nelson many years ago that has also been sold. I always said to him if he wanted to sell the RS to give me first refusal, he didn't, he is no longer my friend!!!
