Hi All,
Anyone done a speedo conversion using a vss for its input signal? BGH in the UK sell one which fits directly into the normal output cable spot on a type 9, I want to find a ford speedo to fit into my dash which gets input from a vss but doesn't have/ need a computer to decode. Seems from looking on the net that EF or AU falcons or similar era might be suitable. Any thoughts/ previous experience? Len

Nice neat setup. Have you got a Type 9 in  yours?  Burton power have got the adaptors to provide the electronic input you'll need for that unit. I am going full electronic- with programmable tacho and speedo using the Burton adaptors. Len

No. Celica steel case but can get electronic senders to suit which will fit in the tunnel much easier than the current Toyota-Ford adapter. I want to retain the OEM RS dash and clocks. Plus I'm using the speedo hole in the bulkhead to run my engine EFI harness 😉

So you are not going to keep using the original cable RS Speedo in the dash then?
My Rs speedo is way out with the type9 and eveything else that has been changed. Need to find an adaptor or something to fix it.

Hi all,
I have finally got around to begin the fitting and installation of the programmable tacho and speedo into my RS.  I was able to borrow a complete RS instrument pod from a mate so Ii could get a template made for fitting the instruments into the original with just a small spacer to help locate it and give the rear locking ring something to sit against.  In spite of making several measurements to ensure it would fit one factor I didn't take into account was the depth of the bezel of the new instrument.  I failed to notice the curve in the Perspex cover didn't clear the top of the bezel and so have left off the Perspex cover for the moment so I can get the car to the sparky to have it wired up.  Will look to see if the Perspex can be heated and flattened out to clear the bezel.
I am using the type 9 adaptor and VSS from Burtons to provide the signal to the speedo.  I couldn't get the male half of the plug , so cut it off and my sparky has given me a Deutz style one to use to connect it up.  Len

Len, is 8000 rpm and 220k going to be enough?

I was told the engine was good for 200k at 7000rpm, might have to get a bigger engine.......

Hi Len. Are you using GPS as your only speed reference or is it have an electronic speed input?
