I just bought 1976 lincoln contenintal month ago
And since i bought it i face overheating issue in 10 minutes it will reach (H) !!

If the car is cold and i start it without move it ,, it will still cold and will not overheat
But if i drive it , it will directly overheat ,,

I change the below and still the issue is existing:
1-World champion 3 rows all almunium radiator ..
2-water pump.
3-the upper and the lower hoses from the radiator to the engine .
4- thermostat 195 and 180 and 160 with the thermostat gasket.
5- also the oil engine and the oil fillter in case if its old.
6- new original motorcraft antifreeze ..
7- K-sealer but no luck same issue ..

And still overheating after 10 minutes like i did not change anything !! :,,,(

I thoughts its blown head gasket but theres no bubbles on the antifreeze

I spend alot of money on it with no luck

The reason that I bring this up is my recently purchased '53 flathead Ford goes all the way to HOT in 10 minutes, too; but, it ain't really hot.  Is there some way that you can get a reliable thermometer in/on/near it to check the real temp.  Apologies, if you know that it is VERY HOT, and are not just relying on the temp gauge.

The temp gauge is correct it is REALY HOT actually ,,

Also the upper hose get like a stone after getting hot .. It become a hard and strong to push

Is there a plumbing setup for your C6 3-speed automatic transmission "COOLING"
on the bottom of your Radiator.???
Can the Thermostat (by product design) be installed ars about.???
The Rock Hard Top Hose makes me think the Water pump is pumping in the Wrong Direction,
is the drive belt FLAT or a VEE BELT,??? ... The normal flow is Pump Out to Bottom Radiator Inlet.!!!
"(Examine all pulleys, the Water Pump may NEED TO be driven off the BACK of THE Flat Belt.!!!)"
SORRY I DID'NT WORD IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, ...I'VE GOT MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU.!!!

I luv all cool cars, Yours is a Beaut.!!!  ...Best of Luck
try, Troubleshooting C6 Transmission Problems, on YouTube.
The Auto. seems to need specific adjustment also.!!!
The good bit here, is you have a good start on a collection of spare parts.!!!

IT IS Possible to install your thermostat THE WRONG WAY, REMOVE AND TURN OVER,
WITH THE SPRING FACING INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK

I think I've found the issue ,,

The water pump plate is not there since i bought the Car !!!

So when i change the water pump i didn't see it and i got confuse when i see one of the gasket come with the water pump for the plate . After alot of research i think this is the issue so i ordered one and I'm waiting ..

Do you think .. The plate can make the car temp got to H !!

If this is still a problem, i believe you have an airlock under your head/s, you need to Burp Your Engine.!!
get a big coke or milk bottle, fill with water, screw on the bottle top, place the bottle top into the radiator neck,
with the radiator cap removed, wrap insulation self adhesive tape around the bottle cap to achieve a tight fit in the radiator neck, carefully cut the centre out of the bottle cap or drill a series of holes around the bottle cap almost touching, with the bottle top up, (this is called lace drilling) with a sharp blade cut between the drilled holes until you have a big hole in the bottle top, with a sharp knife or scissors cut the bottom from the bottle, or lace drill the base of the bottle leaving the round at the base for extra support, Raise the front of the car as high as possible & support on jack stands, chock rear wheels, handbrake on, transmission in park, Mix concentrated Coolant, 50% distilled or rain water to 50% coolant, replace the Burp Bottle in the radiator neck, pour mixed coolant to 1/3 up the bottle, start your engine, if the coolant goes down add more coolant, indicating you had an airlock, if you replaced your waterpump with a new or reconditioned pump, your problem should should be eliminated.!!! ...Now you owe me a ride in what i consider a great car.!!  ... I've got my fingers crossed mate, All the Best, Geoff
