weldathon day two! pretty much reverse images from the last round
small repair to front sill corner

then
repair bulkhead to inner wing flange

then new floor filler and jacking point

floor reinforcing

and inside

next I need to strip the front wheel bowl and trim and weld the floor, bulkhead/bowl repair and final flat between bulkhead and floor. these are the easy bits and then the grindathon
Just bought a new proper race seat with wings and its about 80mm Narrower than the Velo GP90 so should fit without cutting the trans tunnel to get it far enough across as the GP90 wings hit the door so needs to be tilted or raised too far. arrives next week

cheers

Looking good.... What are you going to do with yourself when the weldings done? I kind of miss the welding now mines all done, but I'm getting used to skinned mechanics knuckles instead
Keep the good work... Drewdog.......

Thanks mate, still have the front wing rails to do, a new front panel, 6 link, turrets, clearance the rear chassis rails and diff tunnel, plus new feet to the cage, new side intrusion bars, the new front A bar on the cage to meet current regs. harness bar, seat mounts, gearbox mounts and chassis mount for the engine. Ill be welding for a bit longer to come. Fortunately all those bits are pre made so its just align and weld away. no fabrication, hours of trimming and test fitting and all in areas of better gauge and condition steel and most wont need grinding back like a panel repair.
Cheers

Bit more done after 3 false starts,
floor and trans tunnel finished

Turned my attention to the bulkhead. Need to remove the lip below the heater bubble for engine clearance. discovered a bit of rust, just in the seam, so out it came

then a 300x10mm replacement piece welded in

and the heater hoses and fuse block holes filled

Next step for the front is the seat and seat bars. awaiting the new seat delivery hopefully this week. then roll cage feet and intrusion bars. then engine in to fabricate the chassis mounts and gearbox mounts onto the new floor then ther rear end starts.

last photo shows more damage to the bulkhead lip so out with the cutting disks and shaping hammer to fix it. Somehow lost the photo of the infill panel with curved flange, Learning so much about metal shaping, and proving I Still know so little.

And Santa came again! so much longer and bigger than in photos

will probably mount the filter elsewhere, probably before the surge tank

and started filling those little holes.
and went to the recycling yard...56 Kg of steel recycled, bar the falcon compressor most of it from the Mk1 and leftover bits from the Mk2 Bulkhead! yikes! And the shop Vac is full of grindings and paint, another 10 kg's there.

Finally finished the front floors and bulkhead, next trick is grinding and body filler
Started removing old exhaust, bump stop and tramp bar brackets and diff hump and the rear parcel shelf and bulkhead ready to start the turrets and link boxes
