thanks mate
very productive day yesterday.
managed to knock many items of the now ever reducing long list
managed to find some nice flat radiator rubbers

so could finally fully mount the radiator and slam panel

Ill be riveting the slam panel on so added a second skin to the inner arch top to reinforce it and the bonnet pins.
finshed welding and smoothing the arches and stripped the old filler from the rear 1/4 and sill, and hey presto nice creases again!

Closed in the rear bulkhead and made recesses for the turret tops, the original idea to put them in a well wasn't going to work

also tidied a number of older welds and cleaned the gutters of the workshop.

bit more done this weekend.
front guard is very secure now and its beginning to look like a car again. other side to do one weeknight this week.
started with a hole and a bung

made a tool to hold it square and not burn myself.

tack weld

presto

and had this made up, breather tank for radiator

Only problem somethings wrong with the door!
hinge holes line up fine but the rear of the door sits 20mm too low everything must bend when the door is slammed shut and is very difficult to open. somehow something has moved. what techniques are employed to realign doors on escorts with welded on hinges...
Oh and the doors fitted fine after the floors were done?

JP your posts are great.
I've only got about 3 hours learning to MIG in the garage so far, but posts of what you have done make it look easy.
I figure theres nothing wrong with buying a wreck and having a go, even if it may never get back on the road.

Thanks Deano,
Only looks easy cause I have much more than 3 hours behind the mig. But I can tell you nothing can be further from the truth...though painting in fun!
fitting up half complete

And I thought I had cut it fine last time we left for pastures beyond, having only finished the forest arches with 4 weeks to go, Looks like its going into the container with wet paint.
I sit very low...im over 6 foot and can just see the front arch high point!

First time on its wheels on the ground in 2 years. And it wouldn't roll. forgot to remove the prop shaft off the floor prior to dropping it down, its too long and doesn't fit! and the floor sat on it!.
it is such a little car

Wow JP, that looks bloody fantastic! How good does it sit (apart from having a prop wedged under it).
Those wheels look so good too. Very, very impressive build man!

Awesome work, agreed its seeing cars like this being built that motivates me and keeps me coming back.
Don't be a stranger make sure you keep the pics coming from the other side of the world.
Cheers Drew...
