Somehow I get weld balls fall inside the arm protection sleeve I wear and because the lowest point is my elbow, and the sleeve doesn't let weld through I can be finished welding and 30 seconds later, when I move feel the burn again!. I think I got 10 balls in the exact same spot. and burning elbow stinks.
No problems on the photos, hope they are of use and motivation for some.

Great work going on with the car, keep it up..

I second that comment lol...I've been a welder/fabricator for GMH , my left arm and skull is full of craters from mig splatter !.

Put sunscreen on and wear a short sleeve shirt ...this will stop or reduce ur elbow from burning. I hate the sparks landing between my trigger fingers...very annoying!

Well after a hard earned break of house stuff end of year bull-dust and just generally being sick of it I made my way to the shed and had a play.
I have been dreading the rear watts tower but it ended up being pretty straight forward and the boot floor, despite being much more pitted than the rear floor didn't fall apart when I looked at it with the grinder.

crap photo I know but boot side

Thanks mate.
Wasn't aiming to make it  look pretty just trying to get it to work.
This way I can go very low because the tower is mounted in the boot (through the floor)and if necessary lower the bracket via the taller version at little cost.
But the car is a very low circuit car so where I have it and how its worked out should be good.
Need to tack it all in and reassemble it and test for full articulation and binding before finishing it off.

Bought myself a big floor mounted pedestal drill which can do 180 RPM so I can use it for hole saws into steel. Will use it for the roll cage as I also bought a tube notcher a few months ago.
Tried the drill out on the cross member for the watts link and with a bit of cutting oil was a dream job.

ran some stiffeners across the bolt holes

and hey presto
ready to weld in

I move into the new workshop next week so I hope progress will accelerate again with space to work

Cheers Drew
Back on its wheels again ready to be moved
had to tack the watts crossmember in ready to move it

seems to clear everything and doesn't bind

this is it at about ride height

and cause they look pretty the front struts on the car

also fitted the doors up with new 8mm bolts and has fixed the droop and knock on one side. the other side is better but not perfect, and the whole lot lines up still yay!
might get some photos of it on the ground tomorrow if I remember.
