What you need to find is a sale brochure from back in the day or some other Ford document listing the MK1 RS2000.  Your best bet will be to ttalk to the pommie blokes on turbosport to see who can scan you a copy of something.  No point looking for it within Australia as the MK1 RS2000 was never a listed sales variant of the Mk1 (the 25 imports were done as a special thing).

Got on to the turbosport forums and posted a thread, hopefully get some paperwork. Sent the eBay seller a message asking if he would be able to send me the first page of that document but if worst comes to worst I can just buy a copy of all of it. Would that homogilation paper be sufficient enough to get a blue slip?

I am not sure that a homologation paper would be any good to you sue to the car never having been complianced in Australia before.  Def worth a go however, dont pay for it!  I have no doubt that the eBay seller never paid for them himself and is just trying to make a buck.  Rude.  Most people share this stuff freely.  I will upload to file share for you and others.

Yeah that would be great if you could send a link. I thought that was a bit odd as well.

I will give it a go. Accorrding to NRMA they also have a listed 2dr sedan in a 2.0L so that is a good thing as well. It looks like people have done it before.

Worst case scenario are the engine mounts for the 1600 and 2000 the same? Would it be an easy swap back to the 1600 if need be? Keeping in mind that it has a 2L gearbox as well.

Thanks for all the help so far guys.

Thanks mk1Oz, that's great. I hope it will help with getting a blue slip.

thanks for the link there MK1Oz, makes for some interesting reading.

I literally picked up a 2.0L yesterday for my Mk1 - will let you know how I go with it all but being in VIC it might be different rules.

Cool :)

I've heard that the rules in Vic are a lot more lenient (not to sure though), but I know when we lived in WA there was a lot less restrictions and rules about a lot of things. When we moved to NSW seems like you need a license for everything, and it costs a lot more money!

I've organised to have a look at this one on Sunday so hopefully it's not to bad. Will post some pics if I end up grabbing it and probably a lot more threads on how to switch and change things.

Thanks everyone.
