Bodywork and painting is the major milestone in rebuilding a car. Its the point where one realizes that there is no reason why the job will not be finished. Best advice now for any rebuilder is "dont rush it".

Good advice Ron. It is tempting to rush it through to get it back on the road but getting it right is important.

Well I haven't been rushing it (haven't made anywhere near the progress I would have liked due to family and work commitments).

In saying that I have made some progress as detailed below:

- Rust proofed and sprayed the under body with sealer
- Installed Dynamax sound proofing
- Installed the reconditioned and reassembled diff
- Installed the front end (brakes and suspension)
- Made and installed new brake lines
- Reconditioned the original 4 slot rostyles
- Polished all of the bright work
- Installed the hockey strips

The next step is to get my engine back and installed which will hopefully happen in the next week or so.

Well the rebuilt engine is back and as you can see from the photos installed in the car. To say I'm happy to see this happen is a massive understatement.
The engine went in without any damage although I did have one issue in that the engine mounts aren't sitting properly in the cross member. Still looking at the engine mount set up and the thickness of the rubbers.

Next challenge is finding the fittings and hoses for the inlet manifold (its a Ford triple manifold so the fitting locations and sizes are different to standard).

Also got my Simmons back last week and on the car so pretty happy at the moment.

Coming together nicely , don't the triples and Simmons raise the benchmark to another level. Good work mate

Thanks all for your comments. I had a crack at the car on Saturday. The engine and gearbox are now bolted to the cross members. Also got the clutch and speedo cables hooked up.
The ceramic coated extractors gave a few headaches as the winged sump touched the pipe. With a bit of persuasion we created a few mm gap.
Also fitted the brass inlet manifold water and vacuum fittings after some searching for the parts.
Finally we installed the heater unit after getting the radiator recored and tested. I was lucky to find a radiator shop with a number of NOS cores for a good price.
Next step is the rest of the engine bay accessories including radiator and hoses, alternator, coil, driving lights, horn before fitting off the wiring harness.

Damn that'd a fine looking machine!

Had another busy weekend on the rebuild. It's hard to see major progress when you're working under the bonnet on accessories but it's all progress. I fitted the heater hose fittings and hoses, the steel oil pressure line, new spark plugs, changed over the rocker covers, fitted the fuel lines for the triples, dummy fitting the fuel pressure regulator on the rear dcnf carb, alternator bracket and alternator, fitted the horn, 3000v6 badges, boot hinges and repainted the radiator so it's ready to fit.

Sorting the wiring is the next focus area.
