Thanks for the compliments everyone I hadnt checked here for awhle so Ill update a few things. The gold GT stickon badges were a direct result of weight saving and I just didn't like the standard red GT badges at the end of gold stripes so they were put away in the shed. The radiator is a V8 Holden standard three core with Ford Mondeo twin thermo's, the biggest problem Ive heard of with owners of V8 Capris is overheating so I made sure I would never have any. This is the only area of the car that has been modified as I dropped the radiator down through the valance panel, (The complete radiator and fan setup can be removed in about 10 minutes)I have sat in heavy traffic on a 40 degree day with the temp gauge staying exactly where it should be.

I was wondering how long it would be before some one would ask about the engine specs, the heads are standard cast iron 351 windsor with mild porting and oversize valves nothing fancy but they are more than adequate at the moment, at some point in the future a set of alloy heads will be going on which should see a serious increase in horsepower and again a weight saving of 10- 20 kilos which should also drop the weight of the complete engine to less than an Essex V6. The bottom end of the engine was carefully thought out and has enabled us to acheive incredible torque through minor stroking, I really just wanted good power without having a highly stressed or high maintenance engine and being streetable was paramount more on this later.

Well its been awhile and ive changed direction slightly, to satisfy my drag racing ambitions I have bought an ex usa 1966 drag Mustang rolling chassis and I currently have the engine out of the Capri at the engine builders getting alloy heads and bigger cam ready to drop into the Mustang. The Mustang is nothing flash but is a purpose built car. I also have another Mustang engine standard bore 302 V8 at the engine builders getting built which will drop back into the Capri for now. There are a couple of reasons behind the changes. First I have come to realise that parts for these cars are becoming very hard to find, as much as I like motorsport sooner or later Im going to make a mistake (well its a possibilty) at present my Capri has had no accident damage and while not being perfect its not far off. Secondly although I dont normally listen to people Ive had enough comments of look after this car its a good one to have it finally sink in, so the little 302 will be dropped in and the Capri will become my show and shine car. Now Im also contemplating returning the running gear back to V6 specs which would make a few purists happy. We will see what the future brings in regards to originalty or excitement. As long as I have some type of motorsport fix Ill be happy.

Hi SSTHIS it looks like youve got some interesting stuff happening. As far as the capri is concerned i wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to convert it back to v6. Its probably too much fun the way it is. What you could do tho is gather up a complete original drive train and keep it in the shed for the day that you "might" need it. Its like having your cake and eating it too. Cheers, ron.[^]
