How do you think would be the best way to make some custom side skirts to run between the front and rear forest flare on my 4door.

I was thinking that I could make it out of cardboard and when happy with it remove it from the car cover it in plastic wrap, and in fiberglass mat. Paint it in resin and let it dry. Do another layer or 2 in required till the fiberglass is able to support itself. then the cardboard and the plastic wrap should just peal off.

I figure i will have to make some way to bolt it to the bottom of the car. I was thinking of welding some nuts to the car below the bottom of the door. And make some mounting points into the skirt. I also want it to be smoothed into the flares so when bolted up i would use fiberglass to cover the join.

Is this a valid way to attempt such a project or is there a better way to do it?

Cheers!

Someone stocked this type of skirt a few years ago.

It was held in place via fiberglass tags bolted to the body.

Haha, I had very similar on a mk2 Ghia years ago although they were black. I'm pretty sure i still have em too. I'll dig out some photo's and scan em one day. Jordan, I would say you could grab em to see if you could bend up a set the same but your in Victoria. They won't be hard to make, that's if you want them out of metal though. I used (patio) Tek srews and they worked a treat.
When you do it though, make sure the skirts don't stick out to far coz people always used to stand on em when getting out of the car, and it used to give me the sh#ts
