This is my '79 Escort RS 2000 its fairly standard RS. It took 2 years to restore up to this stage. The paint is a custom red mettalic, with custom black metallic. I'm going to replace the engine (the current engine needs new oil rings), gearbox, and a diff.
This car is also my first car and it is a daily user.

Well done

That looked like a bloody big job. Looks like it rolled out of the factory.

Very straight. Its the best first car you'll ever have.

Very very impressive. Have to admire the faithful restoration back to factory specs and resisting the temptation to put alloys on etc.

thanks for the comments
@JamesR, it is going to get a set of 15's.
@Mk1 Pinto, yeah I did go Mt. Barker high. Are you the guy with the Dark Blue MK1? Check the skatepark at some point just don't go there on Mon,Weds, and Fri I don't skate on those days
@Avon, the engine isn't at factory spec the previous owner of the engine had mod it internally, and I've put extractors on it. The standard wheels is due to lack of funds in high amounts of cash, even though I will be able to get new wheels and tyres below retail price...
@longboy74, it sure is alot better then the '93 Lancer I learen't to drive in
@sundowner, once the new diff goes in I won't be able to run my stocks wheel on the rear due to size and stud pattern the front is going to changed as well. I am proud thats why Im pissed that some bumhole used my car as a door rest and chipped the paint on right quarter panel about 4 days after that cruise. Now its up to my bro to fix it, but he hasn't had the time (due to his XW getting defected) and the sheer heat.

My mk1 hasnt seen the light of day for about 3 years but you may see my red mk2 4 door getting around. I'll have to wave you down for a chat and closer look next time i see you. I'll probably be in my marone hilux surf.

UPDATES on the car-
Got a new diff and its in
Borg Warner type 70
Ratio: 3.42

It went in good not a problem the Escort tail fits up perfectly. The diff was modifed to bolt in like a stock diff The only modification to the hand brake was the rod was shortened.
Its also rear disc brake now, but have to have 14+ inch wheel on the rear the 13's foul on the calipers. Stud pattern was also changed so it currently using Sigma wheels on rear. The front is also going to get changed.

With my old diff (stocky 3.54) there is nothing wrong with and my current plans is to sell it.
