Hi guys. Was after advice on front and rear windscreen installation. (Its been a while since I took them out.)
*Are the chrome inserts installed in rubber before windscreens are installed?( that is how they appear to do it on youtube vids)
*On the front screen is the chrome insert join on the top or the bottom? Do the ends just butt together or am I missing a chrome cover joiner? Are there no 90 degree joiners at bottom corners on front?
*On the rear are there just the bottom 90 degree joiners that go over the chrome end butts?
*Do I use a sealer during installation? (on youtube they don't appear to use).
I greatly appreciate all the advice.  cheers PSR

Firstly front and rear only have two joiners each at the base. I’ve only ever installed the chrome at the end but that is me and always straight away. Always use a windscreen sealant and never silicone as it will start too rot. Good luck finding joiners I need some and always miss out through EBay etc. maybe look overseas or someone may help out but they are worth a bitcoin nowadays.
Insert rubber at base of window after installing sealant and pull cord then while someone keeps pressure down pull the cord around from the inside. Works every time but nowadays you have inferior rubber copies which could be challenging.
You could install it with the chrome trimming and add corner pieces later though to get the job done. Install them eventually though for a correct seal. My 2c

Oh and pull cord slightly from right half way up window then halfway up left so it meshes together at the top.

took me 2 hrs trying to fit back  windscreen the new rubbers  would not go on  was cursing etc so i cleaned old rubbers and went in straight away ...i didnt even try fit the new front one sent both back ... i put the chrome insert after the windscreen was in .. i had the windscreen tool screwdriver hook with a twisted end ... id put the strip in after fitting the screen it will be 2 piece its almost if not impossible to get it around the both bottom corners as mentioned above post you need the chrome corner bits to hide and lock the joints in ...

There are a batch of bad fitting rubbers getting around, they are too big and don't fit the cavity correctly.  I bought a few of them new at a discounted rate thinking I got a great bargain, was not impressed when the fitter had to cut the centre out to get them in.  You might have one of these rubbers hence the trouble

Thanks guys, Just to confirm; I have got 2 x chrome corners that came off car from rear windscreen bottom edges. Are there supposed to be the same chrome corner pieces on the front windscreen bottom corners also or do I just bend the chrome insert around the corner.  Thank you.

The front are on more of an angle like 120 degrees. The rear ones are close to 90 degrees.

The chrome insert seems to be a standard size so you may be able to source them cheaper and with more ease from different models.
My Mk1 Cortina  has 90 degree rears and the Escort fronts would be near 120 degrees like Wiggy said. They're pretty cheap and easy to get for the Cortina's and Escorts, worth a try.
I was lucky enough to have a friends father who was a windscreen fitter, he got sick of doing cashies for us boys so schooled us in fitting them ourselves. Thanks Frank, valuable life skill I won't forget.
Cheers Drew

you will never get that chrome insert to go around the bottom corners i tried but was almost impossible and looked crap ...top corners are fine to bend around but bottom you will have to cut the strip at the bottom corners and use the chrome metal corner covers to hide the joint

Agree you have to have the joiners. If you can find them. Probably best price nowadays at $30 each. Only if you can find them. Passed a few up before Xmas with budget in mind. Install it and play the waiting game I say.
