Hi folks,

I'v had the absolute pleasure of meeting a few folks from this forum over the past year that i'v been fortunate to own my Escort, and its been a great ride so far so thank you all for being so nice.

Turns out the other day, the little Kent within decided to give up. It hadn't had a rebuild, just a reconditioned head, and as such this was probably due to happen eventually.
I'v garaged my car, and am back on my pushie to get around.

So, I'm basically on the market for another Crossflow 1600 or 1700 (or possibly pinto) to swap in. I'v seen some on gumtree or ebay for a few hundred dollars, but I dont really think that would be taking much of a step forward from the one I currently have.

I'd ideally like one in decent condition, even mildly worked and that i can build on going into the future.

Let me know what you folks think.

As always, thanks everyone for your advice and help!

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the response, and thanks to everyone who's taken the time to read this thread.

I should have made it clear that I'm based in Melbourne's eastern burbs, and that I'd really like to get something that has had been worked.

If anyone could also chip in with where else i could possibly hunt one down outside of this forum, that would be magnificent.

Cheers,
Siggy

Hey mate,

Can you rebuild your engine? May be cheaper.

Considering expected changes by VicRoads, anything other than Stock aint a good plan,
if your Tag says "Engine E" stick with that choice.!!

More zip, mmm! A better Carby, A small Cam, Extractors, Then you've got to stop,
maybe a Brake Upgrade.!!

Matt is the best placed to advise you of Options that will not cause you any Grief, or
extra expense, I think Rebuilding is your best option.!!!! ... By Miles.!!

Cheers Geoff

A 2 litre conversion will give you the most bang for buck but a hotted up 1.6 goes great too.

For the 2ltr conversion you'll need the running gear from a 2ltr and will need to cut out the radiator recess so may be more work than you want to do

Cheers,

Matt
