What should I paint the under body of my Mk2 escort with? I want it to look neat and easy to clean dirt and crap off.

I was thinking stone guard?
But my old man wants me to spray sound deadener. Can I do both? Or is spraying sound deadener a waste of time? Also will sound deadener leave a smooth paint like finish when sprayed?

Thanks for any help/advice
Cheers

It depends on what type of finish you want,

Stone Guard is a water base spray product which is only designed to

give a ripple effect as you would see on later model cars,

Proofcote sound deadner spray in my opinion (I would Use)is more

like the manufactures finish underneath and unless you are

constantly driving on dirt roads will be easy to clean with a

hose, when you wash the top side of the car,you do the same under IF

you are driving it as a every day car,

Then there is the painted show finish BUT that will not stop road

noise and body hollow noise,

If you have gone to the effort of bare metal underneath in

preparation, a rust prevention paint is recomended.

Paint place reckons I should use a product called K&H Kahguard. Anyone had any experience with it?

The show finish is nice. But the orange paint is rather expensive and for something that will never be seen. I would rather block a bit of noise out. I plan to spend more time inside it than underneath =)

I'm not at this point yet, but when I do get around to the underside, I'd like something that's tough, deadens the sound, won't chip off AND is the same colour as the top (or can be overcoated in the same colour as top)....does such a thing exist?

why not use a low texture stone guard below for good finish and protection and put the sound deadner above?
