Hey there everyone.

i thought i might share with you my mk1 project.
it is.. was a 74 mk1 coupe.. my plans are the typical stuff; arches stripe kit and turbo. i have a 2lt that i am going to rebuild and turbo but that wont be for a while yet as you will see from te pictures.lol.
this isnt my first escort, i have had a mk11 coupe that was beyond repair(well so i thought, then i got the mk1 and realized how good the mk11 was.) then i had a black mk1 coupe with a 2lt twin webbers and so on(will put a pic up) and now i have my current mk1. i couldnt find any mk1s in my price range in a decent condition so i picked this special unit up for free. i think that it looks alot worse than it really is. there is alot of rust in few places.
rh a pillar is rusted
rh side were guard should be is rusted through
floor is rusted
outer sill rusted
heater area rusted
front panel nearly completely missing
small amount of rust in the chassis at the front.

i have no front guards or bonnet. i will have to source some guards either from the uk or a wrecker.. i have looked at the fibreglass option but this is going to cost me 700 for the 2 front guards and the rear arches. am i going to be able to do it cheaper with steel guards? is there much weight difference? will it look different? i will most likely be getting a fibre glass bonnet.

the engine drive line and suspension i will work out at a later date.

here is the pics of the rust.

with the fiberglass front guards they will obviously be lighter.. and a bonus is u can get them now with the big flared arches already in them so saves u the cost of having to buy guards..cut half of them out and then getting the arches fitted.. but i guess its a case of if u would prefer fiberglass or metal in the front should the unthinkable happen..
