Hey guys,

My ongoing project/daily driver/love/hate is my 1300xl 74 mk1 2door. i have around 1000 photos and ive been wanting to upload for ages.

I'll start with the begining and what she is now.

I thought she looked spot on when she first arrived in december 2005, but i soon found a world of rust; both doors, wheel well, boot pan and a few other bit and pieces.

The original 1300 had mud in the cylinders plus a pinto is so easy to put in so i figured i might aswell do my first swap.

Current: (minus the grill)

This is the engine bay when she first rolled out (jan 2007), but all shes done is got dirtier and moved the battery to the boot, so i thought id show earlier photo

let's finish with the future plans, n/a zetec to start with, eventualy turbo street/race

Cheers, and alot more to follow

If memory serves it was at SFS this year, albeit with just the rear arches done?

Car is looking great - well done! Keep up the good work and good luck with the Zetec conversion. Keep us posted with any progress.

Hey chaps,

The saga continues....

poo poo all happened in the first year of running it, mainly due to no money, About november last year i bought a 96 mondeo for a bargain, only one problem, put it in first and nothing happens...
which doesnt bother me [:x)]

Here the gearbox i plan to use, e series xr6 t5

Cheers mark

Hey guys

well then, january this year, the weekend before sfs 2008, over the long weekend i put a rear set of flares for my mk1. Bought a set of fibre glass arches off geoff wade.

basically taped them into place and job done.... [88][88][88]

Cut away what we definatly wouldn't need, refit, cut away a little more.

Nice big chunk missing

Lipped the arch

A mk2 roof makes a good arch

Weight reduction [(#)]

trimmed the fibreglass screwed into place (later to be replced with pot-rivets

JOB DONE, for the back

donor car in worse shape again

And chopped this in half, going to use the front to mount up my zetec so i can sought out all the problems on the and do a dtraight swap

And dragged it down the hill.

Me again,

about april i fitted the front arches, same kinda deal as the rear, only easier cause i didn't need to extend the arch, only cut existing and replace.

]

so now i have what i like to call a monster-truck,

Happy with the rear though

Only one solution... Coil-overs

Cheers, Mark

Now let's move to the fun stuff.

Engine details,Zetec, of course, out of a 96 mondeo

Retro-ford Sump, Water rail and engine mounts. (which i highly recomend)
Arp conrod bolts
Ajstable Kent Cam Wheels
Gixxer 750 throttle bodies
Hoping to make my own stainless steel headers exhaust based on the Ashley design.
Borg warner T5 gearbox
Cosworth aluminium bellhousing.
Std mondeo flywheel and pressure plate.
XD/XE Exedy Clutch plate.

Amazingly and luckily we were able to find clutch plate which was the right diameter to fit with the flywheel and right spline diameter and size to fit with the gearbox.

Anyway down the the piture spam

Checking how the sump lines up

Fitting the conrod bolts
