Still don’t know how you could get our rear quarter to open and be sealed. I’ve never seen one but that’s just me.

Hey Wiggy333,

The Australian built MK1s used the fixed quarter side window system.  The opening type were an option in the UK Capri.

To fit opening type windows to an Aussie Capri is a little difficult as an additional body part must be fitted around the window crescent shape to allow the weather seal rubber installation.  Then the bright chrome trims must be replaced along with the slightly smaller window glasses.  A parts view of both types is here

Note that the opening windows shown in the linked parts view have latch fasteners that go through the window glass.  These windows were fitted to the German built car.  The UK builds had fasteners that were glued to the window, not unlike rear view mirror mountings, that often failed and allowed the window to just fall off the car!  The windows in my RS3100 did just that one day during a hasty right hand turn.  Through the mirror I watched in terror as the window slid across the road in front of traffic and luckily came to rest in the gutter without breaking.  Soon after that I found a pair of bolt-through windows on the US eBay site and fitted them ASAP!

A close-up of the fastener is here

I found a pic that shows the metal section that is fitted to the body to allow mounting the rubber weather seal for the opening window.  It is riveted in place and is most likely sealed to the inner and outer body panel joint lip.
