cheers for getting back to me barney, i too am looking to fit thermos radiator and intercooler behind the grill for a stealth look. ive read up on the machining of the crank pully and seems like a go, but only the first one of the three can be removed because of the harmonic balancer correct?
im going to see how the drums handle and go from there. i think you will be surprised how well they pull up

Hey guys just going put the idea up here i have search heaps of other forums and cant get a direct answer...
The sr20det, as everyone knows the Gti-r came with quad throttle bodies, but its fwd..
I may be able to get hold of some pretty cheap, question is how much work is neede to make them fit a rwd???
From looking at it the plenum goes the wrong way so would need a custom chamber but dosent look like to many hassle?? the manifold to the block looks like all holes will line up

Anyways i'm gonna put this on boost crusing aswell but just wondering of peoples thoughts...

thanks
Barney

looking at my mates pulsar sr20 (just stock, no turbo or anything fancy), but there were a few differences between the fwd and rwd engines. the thermostat and water outlet's are obviously differemt, as is the position of the dizzy, and as you said, the inlet plenum is different.

when you say your planning on putting quad throttle bodies, do you still intend to go turbo?

cheers, Tom

YEAH! FOR SURE!!!still going turbo, got an s13 red top motor and 5sp, but you dont see many with the quad's if any so was just going to do something different, i've heard the quads give it alot more down low??
anyways yeah im going to have to change the thermostat housing as the rwd one dosen't give me much room with radiator squeezed in there!
Like you said not sure if the heads are different...hmm i think i need to go to a jap wrecker..

thanks guys
Any help if anyone knows anything else feel free to add..
hey if you get a chance can you take a pic of the thermostat housing on the fwd sr20.
cheers

From what I have learen't. FWD block is different. Not even sure if a RWD gearbox will bolt up to it. Quads from the GTiR can be used. An adapter is made to turn the plenum around the other way. I'm pretty sure u could use the head but you would need a different way of getting crank angle. Do you mean the water neck or the thermostat housing down near the water pump. I made my own water neck as I didn't like the way it restricted flow under the CAS. Its a little harder to get the CAS out now but the flow is heaps better.
