Very neat, quite different from the usual teenage pod filter fittments, which end up rattling round and killing the afm [:o)]

You could probably make money out of that by selling 'pod filter conversion kits' for them on ebay !

Hey Carlo,

I know airflow meters generally tend to pose as a restriction, but with a vane type meter at WOT, there really is bugger all to get in the way of air flow. For a standard NA engine like mine, I really don't think the gains (if any) would be worth the expense and mucking around of fitting a computer like that. I'm happy to be proven wrong though!

Gee, I miss reading this post for a few days and look what happens - well done!!

In the last pic above also shows off the nice work on the repaired quarter panel too - much better!

I agree, I can see a definate market for the adapter also!

reason i got it was to control fuel also as my supra has a FLAP type AFM which is sucky.....

damm since looking at those pics feel like getting one for a daily driver.....looks fun!! those TX3 ligts would look nice on them....

i can remember something about flap type air flow meters not being as bad as you think. would it be worthwhile to do some testing ? a vacuum gauge on the manifold, then between the throttle body and the afm. see if it really is a restriction or not. if it wasn't a restriction, you could fairly easily build and fit a digital fuel adjustor from jaycar. i don't know what your afr's are like at full noise, but it may pick up some extra power.

Carlo, vane and flap = same thing.

This is worth a read, as are many of the articles on autospeed.com. Ex Zoom editor Julian Edgar contributes a lot and really knows his stuff:

I had planned to make complete pod adaptors and flog them off, but I've put that idea in the too basket!

Hi all, quick update.

I recently ran the TX3 at a Sandown Sprint with fellow RSOCVic members Nick and Matt on the 22nd of June.

My first ever sprint was at Sandown, and back then the only mods to the car were a set of Kings springs, cat back exhaust and some crappy 16 inch Falken tyres. With a few more sprints under my belt and the new mods to the car, I was keen to try and better my previous best time of 1:43.11, and was aiming for a 1:39.

However, on this particular day the heavens opened up and the track was wet, wet, wet! Thanks to Marc (Chippa666) for the following photos:

It was Nick's first sprint (black TX3 4WD turbo), so he was erring on the side of caution - and rightly so as the track was incredibly greasy. Me and Matt (red RS2000) were probably pushing a little more than we should have, but our times were within a couple of tenths of each other all day so it was great fun.

Our first timed session saw us running in the 1:55 bracket, which we bettered in the second session by 3 seconds. No where near my target obviously, but believe it or not they were actually quite competitive times!

With a lot of breaks between sessions (numerous cars needed to be peeled off the fence) the track had begun to dry out somewhat, and our third session provided a lot more grip than it had previously.

On our very last timed lap of the day, we both managed to run a 1:40, with Matt running 1:40.70, and me running 1:40.54. On a dry track I reckon I'll get my 1:39!

I'm taking the car down to Geelong tonight to run it up on the dyno with Wozzah's BP powered Mk1, just to see what sort of numbers an essentially stock and very long in the tooth BP makes.

I'll also be running at Winton with GDUB and Chippa666 this weekend. I just hope the weather holds up!

Wet or dry (but hopefully dry!) BRING IT ON!!

The old girl surprised me!

Many thanks again to Wozzah for organising the run.
