hey guys thanks :)

theres a few issues with sealing the tophat to carb at the moment so boost is a bit of a prob, i had to wind boost up over 12psi on the 3rd pass, but it was really laggy due to the major leaks.

the car will run a lot quicker at this boost level once ive ironed out the issues.

hope to be back to wsid in a couple of weeks max :)

mr mk2 - yeah ill keep it a little longer, although i am running short of $.

wsid 12/11/08 update:

car has run a little quicker, run a best of

60' 1.780
660' 6.8@108mph
1/4 10.4@133.75mph

60' was really soft, as the current torque converter wont allow me to build boost on the footbrake (no transbrake) also the converter has a lot of slip near full rpm, and the box shifts very slow from 2-3rd gear.

looks like the diff ratio chnage from 4.11's to 3.25's helped :)

thanks guys :)

i was hoping it would have run a bit more mph, but it looks as though the converter or box was slipping to much.

Convert the C4 with a full Manual kit.
The gear changes will be lightening fast even when up high in the rev's.

Well done running a 10.4 1/4 mile with 3.25 diff gears.WOW!

You don't want the tyre's to loose traction past half track with highway gearing, you will be facing the way you came if your not careful.
Cars start to fly at 120mph+
The 4.11 gears with taller tyres will be safer.
Are you reaching top speed before the 1/4 mile finish line?
You should be near flat out before the finish if you want to run faster times.
MPH should be the last thing to worry about with a Boosted V8.

Great stuff johnopaul.

hey maxrs,

thanks for the reply,

i was going to go 28's, but i couldnt fit larger then 26'' tyres on without some major mods :( so i went the 3.25's, mainly to give it some nice crusing ability :)

from my gearing and tyre size, i should have been going a fair bit quicker then the mph i was, iam not 100% sure but rpm i think was above 6500, which means the converter or gearbox is slipping a LOT in the top end.

so a full manual, will shift a lot quicker? that sounds like what i need, as the shift was bloody slow.

also need to make some boost on the line, as it leaves soft.

They are getting those times in the UK with Cossie power, not a V8. Even NA Escorts are down to 12's!

stuart, thanks for the info, i was unaware of that.

with a fully built 400+ci motor, stroker crank, rods, alloy heads, bigger turbo, w2a cooler, transbrake, cam to suit, blah blah blah, c16 and 30plus psi, people are making way way over 1200hp.

dont forget mine is a street car, pump fuel, street radials, exhaust, airfilter, engineered and rego'd, owner built, tuned etc, driven to and from the track.

btw i like cosworths :)

Can they do it for more than a day? before they blow up or need attention.

There is a big difference between a 11 second 1/4 mile car and a 10 second weapon.
9's will shut the Four bangers up
