I've just received some quotes for door cards and seats from our local upholstery shop and was wondering how the prices compared to others that members might have received.
Door cards $300ea for two brand new cards, including new Masonite backing, some special wood from Denmark with holes laser cut, includes new chrome strip and welding of the trim lines as per factory cards. Was quoted $150ea from another shop, but not as impressed with their professionalism.
Seats, $400ea for vinyl covers, new foam etc.
The original factory colour is brown, which is a bit harder to match than black or white but we got a pretty good match, as he did for the basket weave, Falcon I think.
Unfortunately living in the Country limits choices as far as upholstery etc. goes but this business is very professional and will do a good job I think/hope.
Just getting bits done as I can afford it with the aim of everything completely finished for Capriciation.
Any comments gratefully accepted.

hey mate, ive recently had my recaros x2 (side bolters needed complete refoaming), rear seat (new foam as well), rear wheel trims and a tool roll done for mine. This came out to about 2k all inclusive so the quote you got above seems very reasonable to me.

As long as it’s the right material and does a good job it’s a bargain. Just check out their other work. Don’t know how you can do a door card for $150.00. Even $300 is good if made here in Australia. I guy on EBay in Qld does great covers and their $1350 for front and back seats and you need to fit them and no new foam.

I spoke to a crowd from Melb a few years ago at the all ford day. Supply only on 2 low back covers in vinyl was between $1200 to $1500. I passed.

I'd say your quote Timmo was pretty good.

Set of doorcards from Prostitch or Aldridge are about $800-900
Pair of highback buckets to re-cover and some new foam $1250
these are prices I have been quoted so your guy is pretty good

Be interested to see how the work comes out, my door cards are ok but could always be better.

Aldridge trims fit good, grain not quite the same as Australia Capri. Seat covers buy off TonyAllTrim/ Ebay and fit yourself.
But you are quoted cheap. Get them done.

Thanks for the feedback, looks like I'm certainly in the ballpark re: prices. One thing I didn't mention is that mine is a 1970, and so low back seats, not so good in a rearender but cheaper to recover. I'll be getting the door cards done first, and then when funds permit, the seats. Hopefully all finished for Capriciation. Got quite a few other jobs to do as well, it's all about prioritisation.
