Clearly shows Australian Plug here but it’s for the 2000gt V4.

Here is the diagram for the 3000gt. We don’t have this plug. It’s more a matter of the right information especially when it comes to a sensitive part like the electrics.

I'm just in the process of retaping the looms in the engine bay and so can clearly see the wires going through the firewall connector, mine is an unmodified 1970 V6 and so I'm 99.9% sure this is how it left the factory.

8 wires,
Brown (large diameter)
White Yellow
Red Green
Green Red
Blue Red
Green Blue
Blue White
Red Black

Hope this is of some assistance.

Sorry, didn't read the question properly, I'll have another look.

Its the connector plug at the front connecting the two looms together. Bet it’s only got five wires and missing the Brown.

Can anyone confirm how many wires run through the front engine loom plug if they can without removing anything. The earth has a double wire but only five go through and it’s missing the Brown battery feed on all my V6 looms. So we got V4 looms in Australia to power the V6. Cheers

Hi Keith,....yes thats right mine is the same. I noticed the brown wire missing during the resto and decided to install it using the factory wiring diagram as a guide.
It takes the charge from alternator to battery via the starter solenoid.
This saves overloading the bulkhead plugs and ignition plug and switch. (burnt connectors are common)
Im not an auto electrician but i would say this wire is a must have.

Thanks Ron. Maybe a reason we have more electrical issues than overseas cars. Also black and brown look the same with road grime so I’m sure a fair few would have been hooked up incorrectly as well if only for a moment. Also flat battery would cause loss of power passenger side meaning more heat being created adding to melted wires from the lack of power/current.

Yes, you're correct, mine's the same. On the left/driver's side of the connector there is a short black wire coming out with an inline connector attached, nothing connected to it, don't know what that's for, looks factory.

That’s an Earth feed. Many would think or confuse for +ve Brown. If I’m correct the alternator charge to battery goes right through the dash loom and out passenger side to battery. When really it should go through front plug straight to battery.
Don’t know why Ford Australia did this. Also I have several looms and one must be from the earliest loom available so feb or so 1970. All looms regardless of age are like it even my 1972 CK17ME car.
Wondering how hard it would be to add the Brown through the plug as it’s almost got a hole their to add it.

Has to be one of the oldest V6 looms with colours like this. The whole white and red cable matches yet all other cables are a normal match. It’s not melted at all just weird.

And it’s got a black plug.
