Hi guys,

A few months ago you might have read that i was chasing up a new engine for my escort and investigating options.
I got in touch with a couple of people including Matt for some advice, and it was concluded that I would go ahead in looking for a Pinto engine and all the necessary bits for a conversion.

If anyone has a rebuilt and slightly worked Pinto for fast road use, please let me know! I'v got the cash saved and would like to find one asap.

I'm based in Melbourne, and can come by most evenings.

As usual, thanks heaps for your help folks!
Cheers,
Siggy

Also, if anyone is willing to give me any advice and tips with the conversion process....do let me know! :) I'm new to this whole thing, and even though I and a few mechanically minded mates will undertake the conversion, i'm sure we can never have enough information.

Many thanks!
Siggy

Hahaha, damn.

Geoff you had me excited for a second! :P its all good.

Glen, if you know of anyone getting rid of a decent pinto, please let me know!
As you probably know, the car was my daily driver, and since the crossflow went on me I'v had to use my pushbike to get around to work and uni. So the sooner I can find one, the better :)

Hey Matt,

Despite desperately wanting pinto power, by pure chance I happened to get offered a recently rebuilt 1600 Crossflow with a warm cam and a little headwork done. Considering how little use it had and the fact that it was completely rebuilt by a builder of Formula Ford engines, and the time restrictions I had in terms of access to a fully equipped workshop and hoist.....I felt it would be the safest choice :D

It's got a practically new 32/36 dgv on it, and it runs like a total dream. When I have enough money for a manifold and linkage kit, I'll put the dellortos on there.....because we all love the sound of twin side draft carbies right?? :P

It's funny how I had a goal, but had to stay flexible as things dont always go to plan....especially when on a restricted budget.

Cheers,
Siggy

Hey Matt,

Yup! it seems to be running well (i have only done a few short trips in it). It's significantly higher in compression than the previous engine and hence i needed a new starter and various other bits and bobs. But in the end, a few late nights after hours in the workshop totally paid off! It is pulling significantly better than the previous engine and has a better engine note due to the warmer cam.
