Has anybody had to redo their escort headining and was any insulation placed between the headlining and the roof skin?
Mine orginally has some sad looking fibreglass glued to the roof skin that has been removed.
Before I refit the headlining I was wondering what to use .

I know you are referring to a Mk1, but on the Mk2 the roof itself wasn't insulated per se, rather there were strips of cheap wool felt glued to the roof skin where the headlining rods were fitted.

Thinking maybe dynamat but its a bit expensive.

Personally I think dynamat is overrated (see www.sounddeadenershowdown for the reasons).  I'm thinking along the lines of 3M thinsulate (or similar), which is very effective as well as light.  I've yet to go looking for it, but I suspect it won't be easy to find in retail quantities.

When I fitted my new headlining I fitted Resomat on the roof.  However when it came to placing the ribs they wouldn,t stay upright because they didn,t have the thick felt glued to the roof for them to sit against. Consequently the roof now has both !!

Hi Guys, having driven my esky for a couple of hours, sound insulation is a must. jj davies & sons (google it) have a product i like the sound of, FPS 850GSM 180cm wide 8mm thick $14.50+ gst / metre, ideal for sound deadening, contact glued to whatever, that covers sound. … to make it more cellular for temp purposes, when glued on paint a couple of coats of, pva wood glue, all over. is it then sound & temp insulation,???
