I have 2l that had a Lucas alt on it. It appears it is faulty as it wont charge battery when car is running. I have bought a higher amperage Bosh unit for the car but not sure on the wiring?
Lucas plug as two larger gauge yellow wires and small grey one. The bosch alt has no palce for a plug. But has a blade noted d+ and a post with nuts noted B+. Can anyone tell me what goes where?
Cheers, Andrew

The Yellow wires get bolted onto B+, and the small black wire goes to the push in post d+.
Good luck mounting it, without the rubber bushed alternator mount.

The solid alloy Cortina 2L alternator mount, will not mount the Bosch unit in line with the water pump and bottom pulley.

Ok Thanks Max.
So both yellow B+ and small wire D+
yeah just worked out it uses different mount and am trying a few jerry built solutions. the mount i have is alloy with rubber bushings (h-73-ab-10a313-ba) but the mounting plate is the same width as the cast on bosch altntr, as oppsed to lucus with a slightly wider cast that allows the brackect to mount side by side the lucas unit cast. Any "correct" solutions out there?

Sounds like you have the Escort alternator mount.

Use a long bolt to mount the alternator to the mount.
Using Two bolts will not work if they have to fight each other.

A neoprene bush from the Escort lower control arm is the same diameter and works in the mount.
