Hey guys I looked though a whole lot of threads but couldn't find the answer, what is the standard ration in a marl II escort?

And would a 3.5 be decent for everyday driving?

Thanks guys,

Jordan

2ltr came with a 3.54
1600 came with a 3.77

not exactly sure about the 1300, I think it was a 3.77 as well, if not it might have been a 3.9

for everyday driving around town, (I'm assuming its a 2ltr) a 3.54 is fine

Sterling
im driving with a 2ltr, and 1600 diff (3.77:1)

and i gotta say i love it and hate it.

sits there screaming its t!ts off at 100, but around town it can be fun.

i also think 1300 panelvans had 4.11:1 diffs, not 100% sure

my mk1 1600 manual (originaly 1300 auto) coupe has 4.11's,

Avon
(Mk2)

2000 = 3.54
1600 = 3.77
1300 = 3.89
1600 sport = 3.54
1300 sport = 4.11
Kent panelvan = 4.11

1100 = ?
2000 Panelvan = ?

Thanks guys found an El diff I was considering buying with a LSD and all, but I don't think I can afford to get it shortened, I got a quote today and he said $900 minimum! :(

I have a 4.1 diff with 5 speed and it sits somewherearound mid 2000'rpm on the freeway (being a while cant remember) but goes really well from standing start and worth the compromise in my opinion.

the problem with the falcon diffs is they are really tall, damn ford geared them for highway unfortunately, i remember pricing up a BW LSD a few years back but by the time i cut it down and found some decent ratios it all got too hard and $$$$

How easy is it to put discs on the Hilux? And what year was the right size?

I run a RN25 Hilux diff with Saab rear discs & calipers, to suit Vic PRC rules we still need to run a cable handbrake as well and the saab ones still work - even thou only the Hydralic one gets used....

the axles need to be trimmed by 3-4 mm on the spline when running a later model LSD as the axles are just a bit longer than required

The caliper brackets bolt on, and the setup fits under 13in wheels

real easy conversion - and cheap, LSD's around $250, Diff anywhere from $250???, I think they have got a bit more expensive as they have become a popular conversion

and nearly every ratio under the sun, I run a 4.89 with a spare 4.6
