since alot of you have e mailed me requesting info on the power steering kit I bought for my project car, I thought it was about time I post up some pics of the kit. I have taken a few photos at various different stages of the kit assembly on the shed floor. fairly basic but you get the idea.

1) this photos shows virtually the whole kit minus 1 uni joint as its already on my steering rack for mock up.

2) the motor assembly.the bracket next to it mounts to the standard escort mounts using the captive nuts that are already there and bolts to the front of the motor assembly.

3)the back of the motor is fixed by this bracket and this bracket gets welded to a bar or something under the dash if you look under there im sure you will see it.

4)when you get the motor assembly for some unknown to me reason it has forward/backward play in the steering shaft between the motor and the steering wheel, therefore this bar gets welded in place

5)this shows the kit dummied up on the floor note the complete new steering shaft etc.

this is the brains of the kit the 1 on the right with the wires hanging out of it has been modified to work as a stand alone unit independant of the cars ecu. its also has harder/ softer adjustment via a dash mounted rotary switch.

*this is how the original motor assembly looks when taken out of donor vehicle

thats basicly it, any questions feel free to ask and ill try answer them.

The donor car is the European 1993-2000 Opel Corsa, same as our Holden Barina. Unfortunately our Barinas' don't have electric power steering, only hydraulic.

i got the kit from grp4 fabrications in galway ireland but bought the motor assembly off a wreckers over there. im led to beleieve some of our small gm's like the astra and vectra or something like that have the electric power steering on them. so yes the motor assembly can be bought over here.

no you dont need that metal bar, in my original posts you can see a bracket with 2 holes in it infront of the motor assembly im led to believe that uses the standard escort mounts. cheers
