Hi All.

Just setting up my cam timing and the data on the newman phase 4 says inlet opens at 22deg btdc.
So I set my crank to 22deg, set my cam via a dial gauge on its opening point and the vernier cam wheel shows 8 degrees out.
If i set it up all tdc then thew inlet opens 30deg btdc.

Anyone help me with that?
Thanks.
Darren.

normally you would have the cam at full lift on number one inlet, and the cam would have a degree to be set eg 100-120 degrees.. newman should have that spec.
check out burtons how too.
good luck

Why don't you find where the intake centerline is? These dialing in methods using tdc IMO are crap.

Is 30 deg when the cam starts to open? How much lift is it at 22 deg?

Ok so I found full lift center and set it up at the prescribed 110 deg. Now the inlet starts to open at 40 deg btdc.
That seems a long way from the specified 22.
