If you didn't use the rear ones for the rear I think it would look unfinished or a bit weird....

Then why use them at all[xo]

The rear arches of bubble cars always look like they have been driven through an allyway that was a fit too narrow... flattened off at the sides..

very nice looking escort. its a hard decision whether to arch it or leave original. bubble arches will look good on it,but please dont put bloody fiberglass ones on it.get the proper steel items and weld them on properly.its a bit more work but you wont have hairline cracks appearing in your paint in a year or so down the track.

I think bubble arches look tops, makes a mk 1 look nice and fat.

Do what you want to do, do what your heart desires and fulfill your dream otherwise you will regret it.

It's not as if you are cutting up an original RS or Twin Cam.

mate, you will spend about $300 for fibreglass arches.what's another $900 to do the job properly.u will sleep easy at night knowing you cut a perfect car to improve it, not destroy it. that looks like a really clean car, which aint easy to find these days.that car deserves the real thing if you are gonna modify it.

no, i certainly didn't mean to sound that way. the point im trying to make is the cost between fibreglass and steel over the whole project, bearing in mind that you will have to repaint the whole car anyway is something worth considering.whatever you do, i wish you good luck with it.money certainly doesnt grow on trees, but sometimes its worth waiting until you can afford to do a good job rather than rushing in and regretting it later.ive learned that lesson myself.[8~2]

Nardo, nice starting point. Bubbles make the rear end more substantial in my mind, more of an aggressive look from behind.
If you intend driving in any form of competition dont use steel, any impact on the arch, remember they are wide, will damage the whole remaining quarter panel and turn a slight skuff into major damage.
Fibreglass will break away and can be cheaply replaced without impacting the base panel. However, if its a road and show car go steel everytime, and close the inner arch to the new panel. The finish will be much better and last, as some have mentioned fiberglass is harder to bond and can lead to shadowing or even cracking over time. however if done 100% right I have seen figerglass last very well and be indistinguishable from steel for ever.

Cheers,
