Looking to run a thermo fan rather then the normal water pump one, as room is now an issue due to an "interesting" water setup. I have limited room where the water outlet normally is.

I was thinking of running a davies craig fan mounted on the radiator.

How anyone got a similar set-up working? what's the size of the thermo?

I have 2 Spal 9 inch thermos in front of my radiator on a flat front mk2 so you should easily fit them on a rs2000. your better off spending the extra on some good thermo/s knowing they won't let you down.

Yeah I was going to try that but there is a brace dead center at the front of the RS2000, going top to bottom, which i don't think is on a normal mk2.

But if they fit, I'll have a look at getting them.

Thanks for the quick reply

TC and RS
I have fitted a 12 inch Davies Craig fan down wind on my RS. The 12 inch is the thinest fan they make at 50mm deep. Down wind is about 15% better than infront of the radiator. I used a steel strap between the top two shroud mounts with a third on the passenger side. I offset the fan to the passenger side. I removed the std fan spacer and used the electronic controller by positioning the sensor just under the top hose inlet. By the way one large fan is far superior than two smaller ones. Check out the figures from the reputable fan supliers.

Cheers, David.

From my experience, flat fronts seem to be able to run thermos, but when i put one on my RS (standard engene too!), it overheated at speed, but cooled itself enough at traffic lights...

Took it to a cooling specialist, and he said it could be the design of the front end - where air come in from under the bumper, and need the engine fan to pull in some air while moving. Anyway after pulling the thermo off and putting the engine fan back on, I have had no other issues in 10+ years since....

Both my flat fronts have worked engined and thermos, but do not really overheat, I it has to be the design of the front end.... (And yes I did check the thermo was wired in correctly, and the same one on the autocross car does fine on the flat front!)

That makes no sense, weird.

I've got a 14" (or 16" cant remember) thermo on the inside of my rs it covers the entire radiator.

I don't need to turn it on if i'm moving just if stopped for long periods.
As long as everything else is working properly the thermo is fine.
Get a propery temp guage helps too.
