incase u dont get a reply, i was told they share no matching parts..

but why would you want a 2.3 head on a 2.0?

what u would want is putting a 2.0 head on a 2.3

Thanks Sterling
I don't want to put the 2.3 on the 2 or the other way around lol

My engine went to the doctor and had that many things wrong with it the doc is amazed that it lived at all. And he hasn't seen as much be wrong with an engine and still work in his life.

The reason i want to know is I can get a rebuilt 2.3L pinto cheaper than the cost of half fixing mine. And i want to know if 2L parts i can get will fit.

They are completely differen engines, different bore spacing, very little is interchangable. Rods and r rockers come to mind.

Looks like it. He's come up with a couple of clangers by the sounds of it.

I'm not sticking up for the engine builder but I know quite a few people that thought the 2.3 was the same - I am going back 20 odd years though..
never bothered to spend the time scanning the net doing more research - lol

finding information these days is soooo much easier than it used to be
But

I do know where a 2.3 pinto is ( bored & stroked )

They are a great engine with HUGE aftermarket support in the states. Turbo and injection as standard on some engines, stroker kits to around 3litres, aftermarket alloy race heads etc. Many also do the volvo 16v head conversion for big power.

But yes, nothing much in common with the English/Oz 2.0.

Hmm it does look like a very good engine when its turboed. And im wanting to turbo the esky when im off my P's.

How hard do you guys reckon it would be to get one of these into the escort? Couldn't be as hard as the likes of an SR or a Zetec could it?

wouldn't bother unless your really wanting to try something new/different..

how urgent are you to get the car back on the road?

u could always slot in a 5 speed, get your block rebuilt, and slide a cossie twin cammer head into place.. then the usual tweaks (carbies cams, exhaust etc) send you soaring with power.
