Well got the car back from the Dyno (see below chart)and all is good go's pretty hard, it's getting very hot under the bonnet though so the extractors are going to have to come off and get heat coated (that will be tomorrow) as some of the paint in the engine bay is starting to blister/peel.... bummer ! have already wrapped my clutch cable in reflective heat tape but looks like im gonna have to take things further.

Wheels are rubbing/catching on the front guards so I found a place that will lip them and give them a bit of a pump, only problem is they are butchers ! Tempe Tyres, they managed to do one properly, I mean I was expecting to crack the paint but not have to re-panel beat the passenger side guard, looks like more body/paint work is on the cards, rego first though.

It seems that the mechanic was talking HP not KW :( but still happy with the result, not a super smooth curve but maybe thats the accuracy of the dyno over such a small amount of power I'd imagine they would be used to dealing with cars putting out stacks more.

The engine had been rebuilt but its pretty much standard, the head is where I spent my cash upgrading the valves so that I can run the car on unleaded. The efi was going to cost too much more to get up and running and it was gonna be either efi or supercharged not both, now that I have have had a bit of a chance to drive it though I think down the track I will look into efi again, the car runs good now but efi I think would work out better in the long run.... for the moment though im gonna see what I can get out of the car the way it is, already had conversations about a new exhaust, looking to pick up 15hp there.

Will put something together once the car is rego and all the prep work is done. Still sorting out bits and pieces but shouldnt be long.

Been short of money and time but have a couple of days off finally so doing a bit of tidying up, unfortunately have sprung a leak front cam bearing is shot so looks like a bit more work ahead yet, down here in Sydney without proper tools, so it takes me a while to get things sorted.

On the upside looks like I may have established a new contact down here to get some spanner work done and also a new intake design may be in order.... more information when confirmed.

So have advanced a little further, went to see an engineer to get the old girl on the road and fortunately there was only 3 things that i need to sort to get the car passed and ready for the blue slip !

1.) Exhaust Flange hangs too low, got a new system fitted 2 1/2 inch with a 3 inch dumper (up from the 2 1/4 of before) they ended up having to put a reverse flow muffler box on the back to knock the noise down to 96Db(images below) problem solved. I will be getting a flange and resonator probably one of those race types that you see everywhere with the tailpipe and muffler all in one once its on the road.
2.) Emissions test is required, this will be interesting as the engineers own rule book from the RTA only go's back as far as '76, he said that I need to go get it tested and the RTA will let me know if its fine or not ?!
3.) A-Pillar mounted tacho needs to be moved somewhere else the suggestion from the engineer was the floor ! Even though every man and his dog has a monster tach strapped to there A-Pillar it is illegal ! I had heard this 3rd hand but it cant hurt to try, apparently I could break/damage my hand if in an accident, I would break my hand in a accident anyway punching whoever hit me so it is the same either way still get a broken hand :)
4.) Cover fuel system in boot (this is reccomended only) but its a good idea and good excuse to get some more alloy around the car.

Thank tybrown and Mk2_2dr_2L I cant wait to get it rego'd at the moment I just tease myself by driving it to and from mechanic's, exhaust shops etc, it has instant power which is great and stacks of torque but just no rego, yet. Not long now........

Thats damn cool

Ive been thinking about building a similar engine 4 some time now, but i just dont have the know - how.

Is the intake manifold partly a sidedraft weber manifold ??

u were very lucky to come across a 75 mk1 2dr auto, as they seem to be quite rare [V]

it would have the auto from the 2L donor car [;^)] I would imagine anyway
