Well It has finally arrived, Got my new project delivered this morning, as the title suggests- it is a 1977 4 door MkII, 1600, auto.

The body does require a fair bit of attention, but its a project after all! Will post pics tomorrow when i roll her out of the shed.
Looking forward to some knowledgable advice from you fella's, and some ideas on what to power her with.
Cheers guys.

Hey Mont, Sounds like a good start to a project particularly with the auto tunnel (it will save you some effort with g/box conversions). Looking forward to the pics and remember just because it's a 4 door doesnt mean it wont look as good as a 2 door
As for engine choice the sky is the limit, From a 1600 xflow to a 2 litre pinto, And for a lot more power there is always the yb cosworth turbo the nissan sr20det the zetec and of course my fav the 2.0 or 2.3 litre i4 duratec Restoration? Take your time do it right once or not at all imo[|)]

thanks for the reply, i wanted a four door as we are expecting an addition to the family in a few months, plus you dont see as many 4 door restores (as apposed to 2 door). It shall be a long, worth while project- cant wait to get started. will post up some pics this arvo.

well, what great fun i have had in the last week, stripped her down. haven't found any extra rust-(good thing). one question though, will it still pass bluey (slip) if the front guards are bolted back on rather than welded back on?. I assume they are welded on from factory for strength, but would it be an issue if they where bolted back on like most other cars? your comments and views would be much appreciated. (pics to come)

yes there will be an issue ,they are a defect and they will not pass a blue slip

Good to hear you got some done, I was wondering about bolt on also?? I would much rather that option myself.
