thanks Simo, the cooler pipes run straight back into the engine bay. The inlet/outlet of the intercooler was modified so that very sharp aluminium bends would lead into the bay, i wanted to avoid cutting holes in the inner wings. Intercooler size is 500*300*75 and i think is about as large as you can go (off the shelf) without going custom. Custom would have the advantage of the pipes 90deg to the intercooler, rs500 style.

Gerry we have it easy here in terms of escort resto's and rust, and chances of finding relatively rust free shells are much better. Its scary seeing the condition of euro shells!

Geoff, youre more than welcome to come past anytime. When the double garage is finished in 2 to 3 weeks, ill be working on the car most weeknights too.

when the garage is finished I will pop around some nights on my way home from work. I work in Clayton now, and finish around 6.30 to 7.30 most nights

Its been a while (been busy on the garage), but i have a small update. Front struts required some work to get the late model celica inserts to mount to the strut top and top spring hats. The insert had to be turned down a little at the top to create a landing for the spring hat. An aluminium spacer was also turned to sit in the base of the strut tube.

Springs are much shorter than what is required, however they will allow me to get the car rolling so i can push it in the garage! Plus a very low rolling shell always helps for a bit of motivation[:p]

Nigel,
Have you any pics of the mod to top of insert? I've just bought some Noltec tops to replace my current roll tops and was bit worried they wouldn't match up to well.
The Alloy spacer looks like a good idea.

Rhys, sorry for the bad pic, but heres where the insert was turned down. This was done for the top spring seat. The shaft dia was not changed as it is already correct so long as you use the steel sleeves that are supplied with the noltecs. I got a few different sized sleeves with mine and one of them was a perfect fit for the celicas...

what is the model no. of the celica inserts, i was thinking you could shorten the strut taking advantage of the short shockies to get more travel and be able to lower it more ?? as normal height struts seem to have hardly any travel when lowered ? awsome project should be a wild ride when finished

The inserts are 8641-1211sport. You're right shortening the strut would be the ideal solution in this case, however at the ride height i want i should have sufficient travel, taking into account 300lb springs, which will limit travel somewhat. Oh and the spacer was easier[:I][(#)]

I think Darnoldrs has shortened his struts on his v6 supercharged project[?]
