This is getting interesting, the first pic in the eBay add looks scratched and dented so I assume its an original badge from somewhere and if you zoom in on the 1970 brochure that Terry posted, page 3 it looks orange to me.  In any case they look better than the faded scratched originals and as for being expensive, its all relative, they are much cheaper than what some are asking for fuel cap.

The ebay listing ones are brand new, where is this brochure?

Zoom in on the first pic, it looks like he is showing that this is what he made the repros from.  Its all scratched and dented.  Brochures are in the brochures section of this forum, posted a couple of days ago.

UK never had 3000V6, they had 3000GT & 3000E in non shield format so these are what sometimes come up.

What happens to the orange anodising then? Does it fade evenly to grey like the one Spud posted? Orange makes sense with the GT badge etc it's just that I've never seen a bage that's still orange. Must have faded early on on their life.

Mine appears to be completely metal finish so would appear that maybe the orange peels off maybe, I'm not sure though, I must say that I've never seen them in orange, but I wasn't around in the 70's to see them original

The anodising fades in sunlight over time. If you look carefully at the sales brochures, you'll see the '3000' has orange around the numbers. This is an original badge that was on ebay over 10 years ago, and is the only one I've ever seen in this condition (apart from on a very low mileage, always garaged car). This is how they came originally.

They are very similar to how the 1600XL side badges were (1600 2V with red around the '1600'). I'll take a picture of one I have here. I have seen someone who had new inserts that were only grey with black highlights, but my view is they were probably left overs from production that didn't go through the finishing process.

That's why I bought 2 sets

These are the early/UK ones.  Orig on top, repro on bottom.

Especially when the first picture in the ebay listing is of the same original badge in my picture above. The other pictures show the repros have slightly different colouring and finish, but they are pretty good anyway.
