Mate, be honest, do you think the majority of goods from Asia that require exacting quality are precisely as described?
Back in the day, my dad used to be head buyer for Big W and Woolies and would regularly travel Asia visiting the plants that made the goods. Amongst other things, he would quality test and even arrange everything required to make the products. Amongst many of the war stories one that sticks in my head is a Taiwanese plant manager asking him what he would like stamped on the wrenches and spanners being produced, chrome-vanadium etc. He found out it was scrap metal...
That's not to say that all items made in Asia are dodgy or anything made in Western countries is superior... but I'd say anecdotal evidence suggests you'd be reducing your chances of failure and be better off purchasing items that require exacting quality from a known and trusted source. I know it makes me sleep better.
