Sterling, I have a 2 ltr that requires a rebuild Its pretty much complete and I used to drive it back and forwards to work each day til it lost compression. If you want it your welcome to it, but you will have to pick it up from my house. which as your aware is a fair hike. cheers Kieran

Buy an oil pressure gauge. And get the oil pressure upwith a drill before starting the engine.

On the first 2L I rebuilt I managed to get only one bolt through the pickup gasket. Never would have picked it up if I hadn't used a drill first (and got poo pooty oil pressure and heard gurgling from the sump!).

wow! sounds like a lucky save. how long does the oil pressure last after u spin it up with a drill?

email sent.

that also looks like a cortina pickup ? if it's not shortened it don't think it allows enough clearance in an escort sump ???, something to double check , also the std oil pressure light only comes on at around 5-7psi so it would explain the light not coming on and still stuffing the motor

well looks like ill be buying another engine, sounds like reasonably good condition, with a few unconfirmed goodies in the block, i know the seller, so i probably wont check for myself, ill most likely just pick it up, and chuck her in.

ive gathered my goodies, electronic ignition, head studs (might not bother if it will corrupt the headgasket), smcka's engine mounts, my dellorto powered intake, and the rest.

i have learn't from this though, definately something to double check if anyone is considering building there own motor. i built mine to learn, and to save money.

i was hoping to put a 5spd in while i had it all apart, but im getting impatient lol, just want to drive her again.
