This is the 'other' car i have been working on for the last 18 months in between blowing up race engines and building new ones etc.

Nearly 3 years ago we bought this yellow 4 door RS. As is normal when buying old cars they have usually either been bashed around or they are rusty, sometimes both. The reason we bought this is that other than a very light tap on the inside of the L/H headlight area (which i didn't even notice until i removed the nose and found it was still in undercoat behind it!) this car has never been accident damaged. It was however fairly rusty!

Despite this it was a fairly un-molested car that still has the matching engine number and its original "A" series victorian number plates.

The firewall area wasn't bad by Escort standards but still needed repairs. The heater dome had been off before but it had been repaired underneath with bog. Why anyone would go to that much trouble to do a half assed repair escapes me but ..

The bottom of the rear window had 3 inches missing in the Left corner and as a result the boot floor was rusted out.

The interior floors were perfect which was what made me decide the car was worth restoring. All the rusted areas have now been cut away and i have welded in new steel. I have also removed the bottom half of the inside section of the c pillar vents and then welded over the vents themselves.

Anyway, i will let the pics speak for them selves ...

and more ...

Now the car has to wait a month or so until we get into our new house where i can paint the black parts on the nose and then block the whole car back and polish it.

For any guys in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne looking for spray booth hire, i highly recommend "THE BODY SHOP" in Boronia. Wiery painted his car there also. Rhys and the staff there are super helpful and really know their stuff.

This was only the third time i have painted 2-pac and the first time in a booth, so their knowledge and tips were really helpful. I have done heaps with acrylic before but the technique is a little different.

Looking good Gdub. I get my paint bits from the Body Shop too. Didn't realise they also did spray booth hire.

may i ask which car had my twin 40's and speco cam in it?

that rust was pretty bad, makes me appreciate the little rust my girl has.

looking good man, not that i have anything against the typical RS colour, buts its nice to see one that isn't red haha.

and in the first pic it looks like it has some seriously fat rubber on it?

The 40's were on the green flat front track car.

The colour is the original "Lemon Lime"

The tyres in the first pic (on the factory Volante's) are the same as in the last pic on the RS Alloys. They are 205/60/13 Falkens

Thanks for the good comments guys

Thanks Chris

The motor will be fairly stock, just a mild cam grind and either a 38DGAS or similar carby.

This one will be the cruiser for club events and stuff and the green one is for going fast!

I'm really happy with the RS alloys too, they really suit it and fill the guards out enough.

It should be drivable again by mid year if all goes to plan. August will be 2 years since i took it off the road for what was supposed to be a 6 month rebuild!!
