Shaun

Looking good, can't wait to see all your goodies on the one car..

I'm sorry, did I say I was going to rework that area? Hmm, must have been drunk - no, I'm just going to fix the rust... [:X]

Thankfully I had always intended to rework this area to sit the motor back a bit, so the fact that it's so bad makes it that much easier to cut into the shell. Still not pretty though.

The plan is to modify the whole area so I can push the engine back, but to also keep most of the bubble so it looks fairly standard. Still need to get it past an engineer at some point.

rework it back to original? [:p]

is this going to be your fast car, and the XPACK the cruising car??

I like the roasting spit, but have a question. How stable is it to work on the car while suspended or do you have to brace it in some way? By that I mean the necessary panel beating, cutting and grinding or other heavy handed operations.

Thanks John.

I haven't had an issue with stability. Admittedly if I were to build another one I would change a few things like the mounting points, but I've been cutting, welding, grinding, had to use the cold chisel occasionally for stuborn spot welds and scraping off paint and underbody sealer without problems. If you push hard enough on it, then obvioulsy it can start to roll a bit, but in spite of it being a totally bare shell, there's still a enough weight in it to keep it steady.

The only thing I won't do is climb inside the shell while it's not supported, or get underneath it for safety reasons. But really, I don't need to do that anyway because I can just tilt it onto it's side.
