The adjustable bracket has a recess where the starter motor snuggly fits into. It's St least 8-10pm deep. So you can't bend it out. Torsionally I can see a certain point about the two bolts however they are snugly fitted as well. But honestly the starter motor isn't used that often and this design is used on many different v8's etc. If after all these years there was something wrong with the design I'd imagine they wouldn't be in business anymore. Just my 2 cents....

Yeah basically
Mine was the first one and don't have slots in the main mounting holes and when I ordered the spare they did the same as I've got theads in one of the holes

Just fitted it to my car having re-wired it. Taken 5 months. Started instantly! [:p] The geared design is awesome.

Based on this thread I bought one and installed it last week. Absolutely fantastic, no more hassles at all! Old (and still good) standard starter motor could barely turn my new higher comp engine over.
