I can't see anyone wanting a new shell, We have plenty of usable Escort bodies here still.
One wild plum MK1 on here can't get 10g, so why would 10g for a shell plus shipping be any better?

An old Escort enthusiast has a better idea.

No worries bud, it is neither here nor there to me. I was only putting out the feelers for John as he is pretty determined to make new shells. The price he passed to me included the shipping so I thought it was pretty reasonable when you look at what good stock is actually available here, with no rust to cut out, sourcing and replacing rusted parts, labour doing this, sandblasting etc, all adds up versus a brand new shell. When they do become available at some point I'm sure they can be purchased though UK outlet's for anyone interested.

Just followed your link. Another ripper of a car completely built from scratch in Ireland.

I would rather a new shell.

imagine having the shells cheap enough to build you own car cheap.
you could even start a racing event like the V8 super cars....

ie the new shells in Australia would need to comply with 2010 ADR;s including crash / crush and emmisions requirements... I know that in England they reshell cars, but that is NOT allowed in Australia as in Australia cars are identified by their VIN number and not by their history / documenmtation. You can put new bodies onto older chassis, but as an Escort has an inbuilt chassis...... And yes there will be cars that have been done, but I would suggest not legally....

i had the same thoughts, [posted on rsm forum] but since talking to others about it, couldnt be registered the same way as what hotrods and clubman cars are?
i got a mate thats building a hotrod from scratch. his dad made up a chassis, and he has bolted a fiberglass body to it.
