Just posting to see what the membership's impression of the proposed changes to the club registration scheme are, the new proposal would be very similar to the uk's classic car registration scheme, using log books.

yeah, it would be possible to run upto 8 classic cars on 45 day log books, very cost effective, at $18.50 reg per car, TAC will up the cost but still = to 1 full rego, some guys in the UK run four cars on 90 day log books, if you only had 1 car on club rego as a hobby car you could drive for 2 days a week for the whole year, so it would be possible to enjoy your hobby car every weekend regardless of there being a club event on or not. very attractive proposition!. they are stating that the age of the cars that are eligible will increase to 30 years old so as to stop all the dunga comodores and hillmans from taking advantage and getting daily drivers with cheap rego.

i love the idea! only thing i dont like is i was gonna get my r31 skyline rego'd at the start of next year (86 model) so i dont have to tralior it to car club saves the old man having to take the truck and traloir but what can ya do, cheers luke

once this happens, ill be trying to get my car on club rego.
since buying another car, the escort just sits around doing nothing, and i only drive it on a few occasions. not worth paying over $500 a year to only drive it a few days..

In Tassie we have the Special Interest Rego scheme. There are different requirements for it, but for classic type vehicles they must be at least 30 years old. Rego costs around $250 per year (4 cyl) and you are issued with a log book. You are allowed 52 trips per year and each one must be entered in the log book [88]. Cars on Special Interest are issued with new plates beginning with SI....
The Vic scheme sounds really good, but it took Tassie long enough to get this one off the ground, I cant imagine them taking on something else in a hurry....

Mine will have a cage and race seats and South Australia is really tight on modded cars so I doubt any of teh above will ever help me :(
