hmm well unfortunately i didn't beat my deadline (which was by the end of december)

but the mechanic has given me a NEW deadline..

"if you can fix these things before mid-january, ill pass the car without doing another complete check, any longer and ill have to check it all again mate"

so yeah, heres the things on the new list:

exhaust extension unacceptable (my dodgy welding lol)
exhaust leaks ^
brakes spongy (need bleeding)
noisy engine cyl head
D- unblock and adjust p/s washer jet
D- engine mount missing bolts
D- engine mount spacers dodgy
D- d/s window weather seal
D- windscreen

and ive already progressed halfway overnight haha!

ill see what i can do RE: head noise, slappy and rackety as all hell.
then its off to the exhaust shop (i cbf f*cken with it)

and if hes concerned about the spongey pedal, he can bleed them.

-i could only bleed them so well, one man doing a two man job.

owell, gotta wrap some presents in a half an hour haha

Yeah eff bleeding brakes by yourself, definitely need somebody to pump the pedal for you. Pinto's usually have pretty noisy tappets anyway so you'll never get them to a point where they're silent but I'm sure you already know this!

haha, well ive been making a few rookie mistakes lol...

read the manual (while sitting down and cracking a cold one, taking my little break [:x)] )

and there i see the words "ADJUST HOT"

ohhhhhhhhh haha, well i set the tappets again, (exhaust on no3, and intake on no4 are absoloute C*NTS to get to with a stock carby! omfg!)

-had to grind off the side of one my 19mm spanners. to fit!

anyway yeah, its really quiet and sounds mint!, i can hear the exhaust/intake alot better now.

made my own exhaust (again) but the clamp holding on the rear peice vibrated loose and fell off, so gotta figure that out...

but then its brakes and headlights haha, this list is easy!

well re did the exhaust yet again

the headlight must have been missing a spacer of some sort, so all i did was put some washers on the bolt and now it sits still!

washer jet is unblocked and functional,

brakes still need bleeding, but thats it, list is done already lol

will be going back to mechanic this Saturday!

no not yet [:-(]

got back to the check, needed:

the exhaust done proffesionally.

outer weather seal (mine was off another car so looked a bit unco)

spongey pedal!

already ordered a proper escort weather seal, then once i figure out the spongey pedal its off to hastings to get the exhaust done, then 20 meters down the road to the mechanic to have the roady approved!

and sometime this week, if not this Sunday, one of the guys i work with has agreed to come over and show/help cut back the acrylic on the escort finally!

wet 2000, and a variety of cutter compound & swirl remover. with a machine buffer.
