well thats what im pretty unsure about.. my motor is slight worked. cam advanced timing ports etc.

and the it kicks back and from what it sounded like, never actually could see, it would force the starter motor backwards, and then after it would spin normally again, that couldnt be good for it.

yeah 4 of the 7 were from solenoids sticking, 2 the windings heated/warped or whatever that is. and 1 teeth on the cog round out after it chewed up the flywheel, then next starter (one i was just using) teeth chewed up on flywheel and cog.

im thinking of just getting a new starter and using hte old flywheel.. just hoping for the best, but i already took the gearbox out so i might as well get new teeth at the same time. dunno where to get ring gears from? i heard they were readily available?

clearly what your doing isnt fixing it so i wouldn't put it back together and hope for the best. what did the guy say that you took it to to get the work done?

are the teeth on the flywheels being damaged the whole way round or only part of the wheel?
are you getting vibration from flywheel??
getting worse under more revs?

there must be an alignment problem, have you got the locating pins that go between the bell housing and engine ?

na the starter was working when it went to the mechanic...

and no, didn't notice any vibrations...

locating pins? you mean like the dowels that the bellhousing slots on to? if so, yes i have those.. and yes im using the sandwich plate aswell.

got me stumbled..

It sounds like the bolts that hold the starter in are comming loose.
You are putting three bolts into the bellhousing sterlo?

Unless your starting and driving it around the yard 20 times each day. Your flywheel ring gear shouldn't wear out like it has done.
Good luck with it. Who needs the gym when you got a Escort to play with.

yeah i swear to god, everytime i remove that gearbox it feels heavier than i remember haha.

didn't think it was worth mentioning, but the top bolt had rattled itself almost out, the bottom two were in and tight.

should i try loctite or something?

well gearbox is back in, new flywheel, the ring gear looked immaculate. i was very happy lol

my motor is seriously, random. today, it started up first go, ran great. no choke, and without any assistance throttle.

weird.

powerfull too. I LOVE IT

so easy to drive "stupidly" in [:x)]

i know people who literally could kill themselves in this.

anybody tried driving without a shifter?

i had both rubber boots out, so i could hear all the sound from the engine through the cabin. sounded awesome! i never heard the mechanical side of things while driving.

sounds soo different!

owell, again ill just hope for the best with this one. hope it lasts.
